Clinton & Area - Nature’s Nest
Cardinals and blue jays aren’t the only birds keeping Jenn Elliott at Londesborough’s Nature’s Nest busy this winter. Snowbirds who aren’t allowed to travel south to their winter homes are flocking to the store to stock up on Jenn’s birdseed, which is blended on site from quality ingredients. Her husband Tim’s handmade wooden feeders are also in high demand this year, as the pandemic seems to have everyone connecting to nature as a relief from isolation.
By shopping in a store dedicated to birds, nature and gardening, you can benefit from the knowledge and experience that Jenn and her staff have gained over the years. They can help you troubleshoot any problems you may encounter, including tips on keeping those pesky squirrels at bay. She can also recommend the ideal blend to attract the sentimental favourite on everyone’s list - the cardinal.
While bird feeding can be an addictive hobby, finding the right equipment is key to enjoying it for years to come. “It has to be easy,” Jenn said. “The best feeders are easy to clean and fill, and sturdy to handle the weather and the wildlife. Talk to our staff and find which feeder works best for the birds you want to attract.”
With so many people working from home, the store has put out more bird feeders than ever. It seems more people have an awareness of how feeding the birds can be a small step in helping the environment.
Nature’s Nest has been creating its own unique blends of birdseed for over 17 years in a converted seed cleaning plant that was previously owned by Jenn’s father. When her father was changing direction, Jenn decided to jump into the fledgling birdseed business and has grown it to a destination for bird lovers from all over Huron County and beyond. 519-523-4399. 309 King’s Road, Londesborough. www.naturesnest.ca
