Pentland Farms & Flowers
It’s Tulip season for Pentland Farms & Flowers, a small family-owned flower farm owned and operated by the Pentland women: Rosemary and her daughters, Emma, Isabelle and Queenie. Rosemary anticipates in the neighbourhood of 13,000 tulips this year, most of which will be bundled in one-dozen bouquets, a Mother’s Day signature. While it takes a lot of hard work to process 13,000 tulips from seedlings to stem cutting, she says the whole family gets involved and that they are the type of family who enjoys the challenge.
Rosemary, who studied Floral Design in college and has lived in the community for 30 years, is happy to let her daughters take on the family legacy and continue to build a strong family business together.
While Pentland Farm is known for its roadside farm booth, located at 83336 Lucknow Line near Nile, a few minutes north of Goderich, they are excited to have recently launched their website, which will allow floral fans to more easily find them and order custom arrangements for any occasion. Rosemary says they work hard to not only grow, harvest and arrange beautiful, quality flowers, but also to make them affordable for community members. In addition to offering year-round custom arrangements, Pentland’s also offers local delivery, which is a great option for those ordering from out of the area.
The Pentland’s are hopeful to make some improvements to the farm booth and have it open just before Easter and stay open until the fall, as long as the good flowers and good weather last. The farm booth will offer cut flowers, bouquets, lavender, herbs and other fresh goods from the farm. Currently the farm booth accepts cash and e-transfer.
