Wingham Airport and Papple Aviation
With Tyler and Summer Papple’s purchase of the Wingham Airport, the pair hopes to create custom experiences that have to be seen (from the skies) to be believed.
Papple Aviation, the pair’s company, is geared towards the spring, summer and fall months, operating mostly from May to October. The biggest chunk of their business is scenic flights around beautiful Huron County.
Summer and Tyler didn’t become pilots until later in life when their children were in their teens. In fact, it was their son Oliver who first obtained his recreational flying licence and introduced his parents to the world of aviation.
The Papples offer scenic tour flights from Wingham, Goderich and London for between $140 and $300 each. Their business has found its audience, as they are often booked solid on summer weekends, often making as many as 10 flights per day.
With their acquisition of the Wingham Airport, the couple now hopes to attract both commercial and private pilots to Huron County. They hope to offer a courtesy car and a self-help fueling station so pilots will consider Wingham as a new destination.
On the business’ website, www.pappleaviation.ca, the Papples lay out all of the services they provide, the costs and any other details you would need to know before booking a flight with them. They offer local scenic flights, longer scenic flights and aerial photography flights, as well as air taxi service, aerial crop scouting and parcel delivery and pick-up.
At the Wingham Airport, the Papples have established four popular routes for prices ranging from $165 plus HST (for up to three passengers) to $350 plus HST.
